3 weeks. 3 Exotic destinations. 3 reasons to travel.

Day 1.

Blurry eyes.  Literally no sleep. Being picked up for lift to airport at 6.15am.    Why oh why did I not do some jobs 4 weeks ago..or last week  or even the day before??  Never allowing for last minute hitches nearly finished me off!  How can it take 4 hours to attain a repeat prescription I ordered a week ago???  Long long story.

Why did it never enter my head I would need vaccinations for Thailand? Thank goodness for Cheshire Travel clinic that fitted me in at 4.30pm the day before fly… a two hour round trip and a Very very enthusiastic doctor who insisted on telling me all the vaccinations I did NOT need and why. Showing me online maps and disgrams of everywhere I was going and the % risk of 20 different things that could kill me. I exaggerate not. He took two hours to do his due diligence then it boiked down to the fact I needed just TWO measly injections which took 10 seconds. So add a two hour round trip with a two hour in depth seminar on what I didn’t need.. added to 4 hours to retrieve my prescription;  you got it 8 hours gone.  8 hours when I should have been ironing (joke)  i never iron. packing,  sorting hand luggage.tidying the house, answering urgent emails and correspondence, checking travel itinery, (I have set off on the wrong day before)… when it got to 3am I decided it would be worse if I went to bed for two hours ..so I showered and kept going.

I arrived at the airport in plenty of time for a lovely Emerate’s breakfast. However I was so knackered I couldn’t bring myself to have Champagne and stuck to iced water (Hard to believe I know)

How come He Emerstes female attendants look so groomed and elegant at 7.15am?  I was there with no make up two suitcases and bags under my eyes so big they were going to charge me excess baggage!

The journey passed quickly between me napping, drinking champagne which caused me to nap again; watching the great film The Lion (look it up if you havnt seen it) a pre dinner gin and tonic eating a delish meal  folkowed by another snooze and woke just in time to watch a fascinating documentary on Warren Buffet..

Dubai airport is unusually Opulent and Vast   I needed help with suitcases so thank you Ali who rescued my cases from the Carousel and didn’t leave me till u was safely in my chauffeur driven car who delivered me to Silicone Oasis and the door of my lovely hostess Amanda.   However he did have problems finding the right house.  We were looking for number 4. And we were currently outside 86.  Why oh why then does he have to get out of the car every 6 houses to see if we were at number 4??    He even had to phone the office for assistance.

It turns out No 4 was right at the begining of the gated complex and we had passed it several times and I thought I had bad navigation skills.

The important thing is that I arrived at my destination on the right day safe and sound…result!

Really looking forward to some serious catch up with Amanda, her gorgeous teenage daughter Scarlett and her Emerate’s Captain husband Colin who always has a take to tell     but for now..  sleep calls..
